英国19世紀の女性の解放運動の高まりは大きなインパクトを社会に与え、その反動とあいてフェミニズム運動を
攻撃する多くの言説が発表されます。エディション・シナプスではこの時代の英国反フェミニズム文献を系統的
に復刻集成してまいりましたが、シリーズ第3回では、雑誌記事やパンフレットを集めます。女性運動と異な
り、反フェミニストは一部の反女性参政権運動を除くと組織的な活動をとらなかったため、その著作、言論など
も特定の機関誌・紙によらず、非常に多様な出版媒体において行われました。このため、これらの文献を系統的
に集め、歴史研究の資料として活用することには、今まで大変な困難が伴ってきました。
本コレクションは、19世紀英国の主要評論誌や諷刺雑誌だけでなく、入手、閲覧の極めて難しい大衆雑誌やパン
フレット類なども対象に、19世半ばから1920年代前半までの記事80件強を復刻にて収録します。内容は11のテーマに分類され、教育、法律、科学、職業、結婚、母と家庭、社会諷刺、レジャー、文学、参政権、モダニズム、
戦争など、現代の女性史研究に必要な視点がすべて網羅されています。
フェミニズム運動が同時代の政治、社会、世論に与えた影響を精査し、新たに女性史研究を展開させるための一次資料として、どうぞ広くご活用ください。
